3. Local Quality
A. Transition from a homogeneous structure of an object or outside environment/action to a heterogeneous structure.
Example:
• Use a temperature, density, or pressure gradient instead of constant temperature, density or pressure.
B. Have different parts of the object carry out different functions.
Example:
• Lunch box that has different compartments for hot and cold food.
• Screwdriver/drill.
• Select comfort bed.
C. Place each part of the object under conditions most favorable for its operation.
Example:
• A pencil and eraser in one unit.
• To combat dust in coal mines, a fine mist of water in a conical form is applied to working parts of the drilling and loading machinery. The smaller the droplets, the greater the effects in combating dust, but fine mist hinders the work. The solution is to develop a layer of coarse mist around the cone of fine mist.
• Hammer with a nail puller.
• Suite of software that is integrated.
